 Here are answers to some questions you might have: 

Just what is Christian Science?
Simply put, Christian Science explains how Jesus healed. Not only that, but it makes clear how we today can learn to heal in the same way. The Bible offers reassurance of this wonderful fact in Jesus' own words, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (John 14:12)

Behind Jesus' works was his great love for and indissoluble relationship with God, his Father. Jesus so understood God's presence and power that he never doubted that healing would be the outcome of every prayer. That conviction was the Christ which motivated him, and which he fully embodied.

Mary Baker Eddy explained this healing effect as the natural result of spiritual laws that are always in operation. Understanding and demonstrating these laws - or the Science of the Christ - always bring healing. Eddy wrote about what she discovered and proved in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures so that future generations could continue to understand and demonstrate original Christian healing.  You can find out more at ChristianScience.com.

Must I be a member of your church to receive treatment?
No. Anyone can benefit from treatment in Christian Science. Reading through Science and Health is a helpful step because it introduces and thoroughly explains the concepts that form the foundation of our prayers together.

Can I be receiving medical treatment at the same time?
No. It would be unethical for me to provide treatment for you while you are under the care of a physician. In fact, any kind of therapy or medication - prescribed or over-the-counter - contradicts the spiritual nature of the treatment I provide.

How quickly do healings occur?
You can expect improvement right away. The emphasis of Christian Science treatment is on thought, to shift it away from the problem that prompted your call to dwelling on God instead. This stirring and lifting of consciousness brings healing. You will find 125 years of verified and documented accounts of healing at any Christian Science Reading Room.

Do we meet together to pray? How should I participate?
Since prayer is mental, and includes no diagnosis or physical examination, there is no need to meet in person to receive treatment. Generally, we'll have a brief phone conversation about your concerns and then, following our visit, I will pray. I may ask you to ponder a Bible passage or a statement from Science and Health. I will also ask you to expect healing as a result of our prayers.
